6 Virtual Zoo Exhibits
The coronavirus may have us all safely social distancing and staying home, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop experiencing the world around us. Now you don’t even need to leave the house to check out some of your favorite zoo animals. Several zoos and aquariums around the country have put up live streams so you can still enjoy the animals from the comfort of your living room. You can visit the pandas in Atlanta then hop over to California and see the sharks at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. All with the click of a button!
Panda Cam | Zoo Atlanta
Pandas are always fun to watch, quarantine or not, and Zoo Atlanta offers this live stream of the only panda twins in the United States, Ya Lun and Xi Lun.
Shark Cam | Monterey Bay Aquarium
The Monterey Bay Aquarium offers ten live cams where viewers can sneak a peek at the sharks, do a little birdwatching in the aviary, and even check out an array of species in the open sea.
Penguin Cam | San Diego Zoo
Live stream the African penguins at the big, new Dan & Vi McKinney Penguin Habitat in Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks. You might also spot some of their pool mates, leopard sharks. But don’t worry, the two species get along swimmingly!
Elephant Cam | Houston Zoo
There are plenty of different animals you can check in on with this zoo’s live cam, but we highly recommend watching the playful elephants.
Lion Cam | Smithsonian National Zoo
Being royal can be a tough job. The National Zoo’s lazy lions are most active in the morning and late afternoon, but also enjoy a nice sunbake under the tree during the day.
Giraffe Cam | Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Experience the giraffe herd in their home, the African Rift Valley exhibit. Watch the largest giraffe herd at any zoo in North America “stampede” outdoors most mornings through a special drawbridge and spending the day grazing and relaxing in their savanna home.
